Problems Related to Replacement of Printer Cartridge

Replacing the Toner Cartridge for HP Color LaserJet

This printer indicates when the hp ink level is low. The actual toner cartridge life remaining can vary. Consider having a replacement cartridge available to install when print quality is no longer acceptable. This printer uses four colors and has a different toner cartridge for each color: yellow (Y), magenta (M), cyan (C), and black (K). The toner cartridges are inside the front door of the printer. Do not remove the toner cartridge from its package until it is time to install it.

To prevent damage to the toner cartridge, do not expose it to light for more than a few minutes. If you remove the toner cartridge from the printer for an extended period of time, place the cartridge in the original plastic packaging, or cover the cartridge with a light-weight, opaque item. If toner gets on your clothing, wipe it off with a dry cloth and then wash the clothes in cold water. Hot water sets toner into fabric. Information about recycling used toner cartridges is in the toner cartridge box. Follow these steps to replace the hp printer cartridges in your printer.

1. Open the front door.
2. Grasp the blue handle on the toner cartridge drawer, and then pull out the drawer.
3. Grasp the handle on the toner cartridge, and then pull the toner cartridge straight up to remove it.
4. Remove the new toner cartridge package from the box, and then pull the release tab on the packaging.
5. Remove the toner cartridge from the opened packaging shell.
6. Grasp both ends of the toner cartridge, and then gently rock the cartridge back and forth to distribute the toner.
7. Do not touch the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge. Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print quality problems.
8. Insert the new toner cartridge into the drawer. Make sure that the color chip on the cartridge matches the color chip on the drawer.
9. Push the toner cartridge drawer into the printer. 10. Close the front door.

Installation instruction of Brother TN420/TN450

These instructions explain toner installation procedures for a brother tn420 / tn450 toner cartridge. The original toner cartridge that was included with this machine may either be a starter, standard, or a high yield cartridge. When the toner becomes low, the TONER LED indicator light will flash continuously until replaced.

Once the toner cartridge is empty, the printer will enter a “REPLACE TONER” mode that ceases print functionality until the toner cartridge is replaced. A new and unused toner cartridge will reset the “REPLACE TONER” mode. Before you begin please take time to perform the following steps to ensure that the new print cartridge is properly detected by your Brother printer:

1. Check to ensure that the dial on the left side of the brother toner cartridge is in the position as illustrated in the image below. If not, turn the dial counter clockwise until it matches the position in the image.
2. Check to make sure that the printer is powered up during the entire process. Changing the cartridge with the printer powered off will not reset the “REPLACE TONER” mode. In the event that the printer is powered off when the cartridge is installed, you will need to remove the cartridge and repeat step one before reinstalling the cartridge. Replacing the toner cartridge

 1. Make sure that the machine is powered up.
 2. Open the front cover of the machine.
 3. Remove both the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.
 4. Push down the green lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit.
 5. Unpack the new toner cartridge. Hold the cartridge level with both hands and gently shake it from side to side several times in order to distribute the toner evenly inside of the cartridge.
 6. Pull off the protective cover.
 7. Note: Before installing this cartridge, please check to ensure that the dial on the left side of the new cartridge is positioned identical to the image below. If not, turn the dial counter-clockwise until it matches the dial position in the image. It is imperative that this dial be locked into position as illustrated to ensure that the printer detects that a new cartridge has been installed and resets the “REPLACE TONER” mode.
 8. Put the new toner cartridge firmly into the drum unit you hear and feel it lock into place. If installed successfully, the green lock lever will lift automatically.
 9. Clean the primary corona wire inside of the drum unit by gently sliding the green tab from right to left and left to right several times.
 10. Reinstall the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back into the machine. Close the front cover.

Reset Instruction of TN-450 & TN-660 Toner

Sometimes when we the machine does not work, the first thing that pops into our mind is that maybe it is time to replace the old machine by the new one. Likewise, when the warning light of “Toner Low”, “Replace Toner” or “Toner Ended” keep popping up but you find that the printer cartridge is still lying in your printer, you cannot help yourself from questioning the quality of the toner and start to scold the printer seller.

However, maybe the printer seller does not deserve your scold because usually, this kind of problem has nothing to do with the quality of the toner or the printer. A few steps to reset the ink cartridges can help you to get rid of those annoying “toner low” signals. For the Brother DCP/MFC Series printers:

1. Open the front toner compartment door.
2. The printer screen should read “front cover is open”.
3. Press the “clear” button on the printer’s front panel.
4. Printer will say “Replace Drum?”
5. Here do not press 1 but instead type in “*00” on the keypad. Star zero zero. 6. The screen will say “Accepted”.

Close the door and it will reset the low toner message. For the Brother HL Series printers:

 1. Open front door.
 2. Turn off printer.
 3. While holding down the GO button, turn printer back on.
 4. When all four LEDs light up release GO button. All LEDs will turn off.
 5. Press the GO button 2 times. The 3 LEDs (toner, drum, paper) will light up solid.
 6. Press the GO button 5 times.
 7. Paper light will be blinking.
 8. At this point the toner end-of-life condition has been reset. Close front door. Here is a little tip for you: timing is important here so don’t pause between button presses.

Besides, different printers and toners should be reset with different methods. The above method is suitable for the printer of Brother DCP/MFC/HL Series which should work with toner brother tn450 and brother tn 660.
